Farm fresh

Beware waistlines!  There’s much to tempt you on this journey into Orne cuisine.

Spend one night at Fontenay sur Orne, close to Camembert, home of the famous cheese of the same name. Visit a traditional producer to share in the secrets of how this grand fromage is made the old-fashioned way. And taste Orne’s famous cider, pommeau and poiré (sparkling pear cider) at a local fruit farm.  Not forgetting, of course, your visit to a local snail farm!  In the evening, you’ll be wined and dined on the freshest, finest local produce.

Price: From €72,20 per person (based on two people sharing).
Includes: One nights B&B, gourmet lunch and dinner (Orne cuisine), all visits & tastings at local producers.

 Le Pressoir

A lovingly-restored former cider press, Le Pressoir, will be your home for a weekend of exploring Orne.  It’s a perfect base from which to get to know the lush Pays d’Auge and Pays d’Ouche of the Orne interior. Wander at will through the Bourgel valley and step into its 1,000-year old church, or just simply meander through the rich pastures and orchards. This area is home to the finest Calvados and that most famous of cheeses, Camembert, so it’s a weekend to explore some great tastes, too! Your hosts at Le Pressoir are Robert and Margaret Hind, who moved here from England after falling in love with the area.

Price: From € 65 per person (based on two people sharing).
Includes: Two nights’ B&B, one picnic basket, walking guide book.
